Tonga is only country in the world which is officially and completely closed on Sundays

Tonga officially the Kingdom of Tonga, we are taking about another sovereign country of Pacific Ocean. Which is a kingdom of approx 170 islands with population of around 100000. Tonga is beautiful country with full of tropical rainforests, white beaches and coral reefs.  Their official language is Tongan but they also speak English. Officially Tonga is a religion free state or in other words they don’t have any official religion because their revised constitution of 1998 provides them this freedom of religion. Rugby is Tonga’s national sport. They love to play rugby. And their nation team is famous and well known on international levels.  Tonga is a happy country.

But the most important and wired thing you need to know about Tango is it’s the only country in the world which is completely and officially closed on Sundays.  If you are planning to visit to Tonga keep thing important thing in your mind because otherwise you will feel like you are in a ghost town, you are the only one on the road in this country, somebody big has been died and rest all has gone in his cremation or you are an alien at some other planet with no one around.

So Tonga is a completely quite country on Sundays or doesn’t open up. Nobody will roam outside, shops and markets are closed, like nothing happening around.

Why is this rule in this county? This rule was made by the King of Tonga when he was baptized a Christian, he ruled that Sunday and on the same time he decided and declared that the entire nation will do the rest only on Sundays.

Parents and teachers teach their children in childhood that you are here to do rest on Sundays. Officially it is an offence if you are doing any work on Sundays except you does any job in hospitals or you are a policeman or cop. Even airports are completely closed on Sundays here.

As per their constitution if are seen doing work in public, you can be fined or get the imprisonment sentence.  No one can play loud music and do work in public. They are only allowed to do is can go to church. Rest go to home eat and sleep.

Officially they are not bound to be religious but 90% of residents are Christians and are strict churchgoers. On Sundays you can hear only music at streets of prayers and bells. So whenever you are planning to visit Tonga must go to churches on Sundays to know the way Tongas pray and worship. Because majority of Tonga come in churches and pray on Sundays. They are so connected and involved in prayers.

But keep in mind if you are hungry. No hotel and shop can provide you the food on Sundays so do your arrangements accordingly.

Same as the other Pacific Ocean island countries Tonga is also very hot and humid in day time so take good care of yourself and your skin. It can be sunburned due to hotness in climate.

There are so many other beautiful sites to visit but this was a strange and wired thing which I want to tell you. Come out from your comfort zones and if you are capable enough go and visit this beautiful country.
